us goodies from the families where she worked in service. Sundays were jolly occasions, the girls would bring boy friends home & the lads girl friends. Mu & I were always sure of a 6d or two. I didn't understand about Jerry for many years. Every Sunday morning after Sunday School I had to take him to see his father & his family. They all seemed very fond of Jerry. I don't know why his father & Sally didn't marry. I do remember that at one time his father & the girl he did marry tried to take Jerry away from my mother, through the court I understand. Apparently they weren't able to have children, but they were turned down by the court, though later Jerry & his Dad — Jack Cooper — became good friends. I had a boy friend when I was 16, we had grown up together. His name was Jack Morgan & he played the violin & had a motor bike. We raced about the country lanes, no crash helmets & hardly any traffic. It was so exciting. Jack was 20, an only son & he worked for a large confectionary shop so I always had sweets in plenty. Sadly when he was 21, he died & I was heart
