on cook, a pantry boy, who cleaned boots & shoes, filled coal scuttles etc. a general dogs body. A gardener & 2 underlings, a chauffeur & these two had a cottage in the grounds The gardener had a horde of kids, & 2 stable hands to care for 3 horses. The grounds were extensive & had 3 huge greenhouses. The gardener would give up grapes & peaches on the sly. As under nurse I lit the nursery fires, waiting on the two children, washed & mended, fetched & carried for them, kept their rooms clean made beds & put away their clothes & waited on the old nanny. She eventually went to USA & I was allowed to push the baby out. There were 3 children, Master Edgar 13 Miss Barbara 15 & the baby, John. They were quite nice children, very polite but patronizing Once when they all out I tried B's party frocks on!! one was a white lace one with a many frilled skirt & another a pink taffeta. The boy went to boarding school & the girl a Day Boarder in Edgebaston. They only went to the drawing room for 1 hour after tea & Madam would ring for me to take the baby down for a few minutes after tea. Having a baby after so long, she took on
