Bill lived W'ton[1] 10 miles away, Walsall 8 miles, Stafford 8 miles Sally & Laura walking distance, at the time I remember. They were married. Nell lived in Yorkshire Liz in Lancashire, Win would be in service probably W'ton & now there were buses. Then Bill had a CAR oh my weren't we Knowles the stuck up ones! When Nell & Teddy came in a Daimler, used by him for his taxi business, we were really rich When Nell married, I would be 13 I went to stay with her on the train all by myself!! She & Teddy's sister bought me nice clothes & shoes & put ribbons in my hair. They took me to the theatre in Leeds, what magic that was. Mrs Buckley — Teddy's mother, told me about periods & to us they were truly rich His father was manager at the Gas works in Wakefield & at first they weren't very nice to Nell, supposedly not good enough, but eventually all was well. I didn't understand at the time, but they had to get married & as usual it was the girl's fault. How unfair it was, girls were called

- Wolverhampton, 10 miles SSW from Hednesford. Mum's distances are pretty good here. People knew their distances well back then, from walking them. Walsall is SSE from Hednesford, Stafford (the county seat) NNW.
