socially & one never spoke to senior staff unless spoken to. Of course rules were broken & risks taken, but we were well fed & cared for if sick had a lovely recreation room, tennis courts & a concert party formed a fete in the summer & a dance at Xmas. We were given free theatre & cinema tickets periodically & a 6p fruit ticket weekly. These would be pooled & as fruit was really cheap we did very well. The first year we studied Hygiene, First Aid, Anatomy & Physiology & Practical, bed making & Basic care Nutrition, visited sewerage works & such. 2nd & 3 yrs were Medical & Surgical including theatre work & administration, Materia Medica & Pathology the Nervous System, Circulatory System, Hormones & every which way the body works, muscles the origin & insertion of, glandular system reproductive system, Every treatment & dressing meant setting up large dressing trolleys with drums & dishes & instruments all sterile oh! so many things I've still got my schedule.
