Gazing at the Sea
• Background
A poem by Mrs. Derbyshire.
At the poet's request I have used the modern simplified characters (简体字) for her poems, instead of the traditional ones (繁體字) used elsewhere in these readings.

• Text of the poem
望海
齐红玫
海边驻步深望远
水天一色渺无边
沙鸥逐鱼如戏水
纤云橫挂碧蓝天
My translation:
Gazing at the Sea
I tread the sea's edge, peering out afar.
Sea and sky merge in limitless space.
Seagulls dive for fish like kids playing in pools.
Clouds hang in the azure height, fine as lace.
