When my brothers & sisters went to bed, we had to say this little prayer.

Gentle Jesus, meek & mild,
Look upon a little child.
Pity my simplicity,
Suffer me to come to thee.

Then we had to "God bless everybody" by name and as there were such a lot to mention it meant Mother stayed with us longer & the night light was left for us longer!! Mothers didn't go out to work in those days, she was always there.

I see the moon,
The moon sees me
Under the shade of the old apple tree.
So let the light that shines on me
Shine on the ones I love.

This was your cousin Tess's song.
